WATCH: Emma Watson Sings Opening To ‘Beauty And The Beast’
The opening of “Beauty and the Beast” live-action in theaters is a matter of weeks away and Disney just released the full song clip to the opening scene. It features Emma Watson as Belle as she says bonjour to the small town she grew up in.
The scenes are reminiscent of the classic “Beauty and the Beast” animated cartoons that was released and won Oscars in the early 1990s. The song featured in the clip is very familiar to the fans of animation. It was written and Alan Menken and Howard Ashman.
Disney’s live-action “Beauty and the Beast” is based on the classic tale of a young woman who falls in love with a monster who was cursed. The new version will have a bit of tweaks, but essentially it retains the same theme and tone of the well-loved classic.
“I was like, ‘I have to tell this story. Oh my god if I don’t do this, nothing else makes sense,’” Watson told Entertainment Weekly, who graces the magazine’s cover this week. “[It] made me feel that I had something else to give and offer.”
“[Belle] is a character in an animated movie, so it is a question of taking these characters and putting them into this extra dimension, putting them into a live-action context, which means adding levels of psychology and nuance, and updating it,” Bill Condon, the film’s director said.
“Beauty and the Beast” also stars Dan Stevens as the Beast, Luke Evans as Gaston, Ewan McGregor as Lumiere, Emma Thompson as Mrs. Potts, Stanley Tucci as Cadenza, and Ian McKellen as Cogsworth. Audra McDonald, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Kevin Kline, and Josh Gad have additional supporting roles.
