Sanitary Care Products Asia partners with Habitat for Humanity for the Re-Build Bohol Housing Project
As part of their 20th anniversary celebration, SCPA recently partnered with Habitat for Humanity to become a part of the Re-Build Bohol Housing Project, pledging P1M in order to rebuild 20 homes for families in Bohol displaced by the 7.2 magnitude earthquake in 2013 — the strongest one in recent history. The earthquake affected 26 municipalities and hundreds of thousands of families, and Habitat for Humanity has been working with its partners to build houses in Buenavista, Inabanga, Clarin, Tubigon, Balilihan, Antequera, Catigbian, San Isidro, Sevilla, Cortes, Corella, Maribojoc, Calape, Loon, Sagbayan, Carmen, and Dano.
“Our Christian faith plays a big part in our company culture, and we believe in giving back.” explained SCPA chairman Renato Sio. “We have had our ups and downs in the company for the past 20 years, and it is because of the support of our customers and the grace of God that we were able to succeed.”
Since the company was founded by SCPA chairman Renato Sio in 1996, the company has always been driven by its passion for excellence, innovation, and its commitment to helping fellow Filipinos. At the company, they make sure that their employees are taken care of by providing skill-building opportunities such as sending them to conferences in other countries to learn more about the industry. Their innovative tissue paper products, which are made of 100% virgin pulp toilet paper with no artificial whiteners and no elemental chlorine, are developed in the most sustainable way possible, from the responsible sourcing of the raw materials to the use of green practices when it comes to the construction of their facilities.
“We want all our initiatives to be geared towards the wellbeing of families, whether it’s through ensuring environmentally safe products or through supporting a cause like the Re-Build Bohol Housing Project. By working with Habitat for Humanity, we hope we are able to contribute to making a difference in the lives of our beneficiaries,” said Sio. “We want to do our part in making the world a better place, and we want to do it by being kind. We believe in the principle of sowing and reaping. Whatever you sow in life, you’re going to reap. We hope that this partnership with Habitat for Humanity will bring forth more blessings for the families in Bohol and the company, as well as inspire our employees to also pay it forward.”
Habitat for Humanity Philippines Managing Director and CEO Charlie Ayco commended SCPA for its hand in nation-building, and in upholding its Christian faith. “Habitat is very honored to work with SCPA in building better homes for our Filipino brothers and sisters in need. Thank you for being, as Christ said, a light to other people. And we hope that your continued partnership with us will continue to bless even more people and show them God’s faithfulness.”
Their belief in helping their employees and communities, as well as their dedication to quality when developing and creating their products has helped SCPA grow into one of the market leaders in the hygiene business over the past 20 years, creating products that are now a staple in Filipino lives, from Tisyu used in bathrooms, Cheers table napkins at the dining table, or Sanicare towels in the kitchen.
“We’re passionate about making sure that the communities around us improve in whatever way we can help,” says Sio. “We look forward to working with Habitat for Humanity to do our part in helping more Filipino families.”
