Netflix has given “Luke Cage” a second season. The Marvel superhero series is slated to follow the studio’s TV calendar, but it looks like the show won’t be released on the streaming site until 2019.

“Luke Cage” Season 2 is expected to follow the debut of Iron Fist, which happens in March 2017. Then the show starring Mike Colter will still have to wait for the premiere on “The Defenders,” which comes out in middle to late 2017.

After that, Marvel still has the second season of Jessica Jones, the return of “Daredevil” Season 3, as well as the premiere of “The Punisher” Season 1 in 2018. Hence, based on this, “Luke Cage” Season 2 is likely to have its release in 2019, which only shows that the Netflix-Marvel collaboration is totally booked solid.

“Luke Cage” first aired on Netflix this September. It became one of the streaming site’s certified hits and featured New York’s Harlem and its crime-fighting residents.

The show also featured Rosario Dawson from “Daredevil” and Simone Missick as Missy Knight. They will also be appearing on the combined series “The Defenders,” which will feature the cast of four shows including “Jessica Jones” and “Iron Fist.”

Are you excited that Netflix is bringing the show back? Would you mind the long-wait though?
