Former “Castle” star Stana Katic is returning to television via AXN. Her next role will have her playing an FBI agent, a role she might be familiar with. However, there is a twist to her new series called “Absentia” as her character goes missing for six years, only to return to a life she doesn’t recognize

Deadline reports that Stana Katic will be tracking down serial killers in “Absentia.” But while hot on a trial in Boston, her character disappears and then resurfaces six years later without a clue of what happened before.

She comes home to find that her husband has remarried and has a son with his new wife. Worse, she is also a suspected serial killer.

“Absentia” will have 10 episodes and will be expected for a 2017 debut on the cable network AXN, which is available internationally. It is still unclear if the series will land a U.S. network as reports say it’s not yet being shopped around.

“Absentia” will be written by Matt Cirulnick from a pilot by Gaia Violo. All of the episodes will be helmed by Oded Ruskin.

“Absentia is the perfect blend of crime thriller and character-driven drama for the AXN audience,” Marie Jacobson, AXN’s executive said. “With a strong lead, Matt’s writing, and Oded’s direction, we have a signature series packed with suspense, surprise and emotional turns that feels distinctly AXN, and has great global potential.”

Stana Katic starred on “Castle” on ABC for eighth seasons with Nathan Fillion. The series was unexpectedly cancelled in May 2016.
