“Jane the Virgin” Season 3 premiered on The CW this Monday, Oct. 17. The fate of Jane’s (Gina Rodriquez) new husband, Michael (Brett Dier), has finally been revealed. The character survives after being shot on the chest just minutes after exchanging I do’s with Jane.

But it looks like it’s not over yet as the shooting will bear some effects on Michael, who will take awhile to recover from the trauma. “It has lasting ramifications for the character, which you’ll start to see [in terms of] when he can return to work, if he can return to work, how his life is changed as a result of this. It takes him in a new direction,” said Jennie Urman, the creator of “Jane the Virgin” via TV Line.

With this new direction, it means that Michael will have to be off work for a while and he will have his mom living with him and Jane as he recovers. However, this new setup is going to bring tension especially since Michael’s mother doesn’t really like Jane.

Meanwhile, other characters on “Jane the Virgin” will also go through some changes and shifts. Rafael will be exploring dating again, which could still impact Jane, despite them no longer being together.  He is the father of her baby after all. Jane’s mother, Xiomara, will also be experiencing a character growth, especially in dealing with her new pregnancy.

Check out “Jane the Virgin” every Monday nights on The CW at 9:00 p.m. after “Supergirl.”
