The cast of “Modern Family”is expanding with the addition of “Castle” star Nathan Fillion. Reports confirm that the actor is booked to play a recurring role in the half-hour comedy’s Season 8. Fans will still get to see Fillion in the same network after all!

No further details have been divulged as to what extent his involvement is other than the role will be recurring. The casting was confirmed by “Modern Family” executive producer Steve Levitan.

Just a few weeks back, Fillion expressed to TV Line that he has no plans after his last show, “Castle,” was cancelled on ABC. He remarked that August is usually when he goes back to the set to start filming, but with “Castle” gone, he had no other things to do then. But now it’s been confirmed that he’s book to get back to work. “Modern Family” will begin Season 8 on ABC in  September.

Nathan Fillion is no stranger to doing half-hour comedies. One of his first works on television was in the sitcom “Two Guys and a Girl” with Ryan Reynolds. He also appeared in “Community” as guest, and has played it light and humorous on “Castle” during its run.
