“Narcos” will return to Netflix for Season 2 on Sept. 2, 2016. While this is good news for those following the story of Pablo Escobar, the streaming site announced that this could be the last for the character. There is an actual plan to end “Narcos” with Escobar after the second season simply because the story will have nowhere to go after his death.

But viewers of “Narcos” should not feel shortchanged about this development because the show will be worth the wait and the watch. “Narcos” Season 2 takes place at a time when Escobar goes on the run from the authorities. “It’s from the day Pablo escapes to his death,” said Wagner Moura, who plays the Colombian drug lord in the series. Moura discussed this detail in a TV interview.

However, there could be plans to still take “Narcos” on a different level, which will have to feature other drug kingpin characters. Thus, the series could become an anthology, with different characters every season if Netflix decides to renew this.

“Narcos” Season 2 has 10 episodes and also stars Boyd Holbrook, Pedro Pascal, Eric Newman and Jose Padilha. The series debuted on the streaming site in 2015 and became a critical success. Warner Moura  even earned an acting recognition for this portrayal of Pablo Escobar.
