Elijah Wood ‘Dirk Gently’ TV Series Begins Production
BBC America just announced that it’s newest series “Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency” has started production. The show is headlined by Elijah Wood, as the detective’s assistant, and will be airing on the cable network in the fall.
Playing Dirk Gently is Samuel Barnett and the show will tackle mystery and danger, as well as some amount of weirdness, absurdity and and laughs. Each episode will help the detectives uncover a truth.
“Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency” is filmed in Vancouver and it’s expected to last until August. Other cast members in the show include Hannah Marks, Jade Eshete, Mpho Koaho, Fiona Dourif, Bart Curlish, Michael Eklund, Miguel Sandoval, Dustin Milligan and Aaron Douglas. The series showrunner is Robert Cooper, who also serves as executive producer. The show is also co-produced by AMC.
“Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency” is an adaptation of a novel written by Douglas Adams, which carries the same title. Adams also wrote the popular novel, “Hitchhiker’s Guide To The Galaxy,” that was turned into a movie starring Martin Freeman.
“Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency” was first announced in January. Variety describes the story as “unlike anything else,” which will hopefully deliver fresh content for TV viewers.
