‘Princess Diaries 3’: Robert Schwartzman Willing To Reprise Role As Michael?
During the first offering of “Princess Diaries” in 2001, Robert Schwartzman played Michael, the brother of Mia’s (Anne Hathaway) best friend. Mia had been oblivious to Michael, even as it appeared they have good chemistry together. The character was cut from the next movie, but the actor said he’s thrilled at the thought of “Princess Diaries 3.” Would he consider returning?
“If they came to me and said, ‘Hey, we want you to continue the series. We did something right the first time. Let’s keep going,’ I don’t know,” he said during the opening of his new film “Dreamland” at the Tribeca Film Festival, per Glamour. He also said that he still doesn’t know what the third film will be about and where the story is headed. He’s interested about learning what the characters are like today.
The actor, who is now in his early 30s just like the rest of the stars of “Princess Diaries,” also remembers how he loved working opposite Anne Hathaway, whom he described as a pro and hardworking actress. He had great memories about doing the first movie, but then he bailed out of the second one because he had a tour commitment with his band, Rooney.
“We were high schoolers in this movie, but that movie has a life,” he told the press. “It lives on. It’s played all the time. People always reference it! They reference it like it was yesterday, as old as it is. I guess that’s another fortunate thing.”
