Jeremy Lin Not Happy With Chris Rock Asian Oscar Joke

479px-Chris_Rock_WE_2012_Shankbone_4Basketball superstar Jeremy Lin is calling out Chris Rock for making an offensive Asian joke at the recent Oscars awards. The Charlotte Hornets player expressed his disappointment in a Twitter post.

“Seriously though, when is this going to change?!? Tired of it being “cool” and “ok” to bash Asians smh #Oscars,” Lin wrote and posted a link to the Washington Post story that asked if the Asian joke was crude.

CNN reports that the comedian was criticized for this bit, as reported in this video below:

But many also said that the joke was not about Asians, but child labor in Asia.

The 2016 Oscars has already been riddled with controversy about racism following its snub of black actors at the nominations. Viewers were also divided about Rock’s opening monologue, which tackled the issue head on, according to The Globe and Mail.  “If they nominated hosts, I wouldn’t even get this job,” Rock said, taking a jab at himself.

Presenters at the Oscars also took to the stage to express their sentiments. While Kevin Hart tried to make it funny, Sacha Baron Cohen made a satirical statement.

However, this year’s Oscars was the least watched show compared to the awards nights before it, according to Fortune.
