‘Nancy Drew’ Pilot Casts Anthony Edwards
The upcoming reboot of “Nancy Drew” has cast former “ER” talent Anthony Edwards. The actor is set to play the lead character’s father.
Edwards is cast as Carson, who happens to be an attorney, but it is not yet known who will play the role of his daughter, Nancy, in the mystery series.
CBS has earlier expressed that the character will not be a white actress. “She is diverse, that is the way she is written,” said CBS Entertainment president Glenn Geller via The Hollywood Reporter. “I’d be open to any ethnicity.”
Deadline reports that the series will be written by Joan Rater and Tony Phelan and it will be set in a contemporary time, with Nancy already working as a police detective for the NYPD. The show is going to be a cop procedural for CBS.
“Nancy Drew” is a popular book character published creatd by Edward Stratemeyer using the name Carolyn Keene. The story has spawned a TV series in the 70s starring Pamela Sue Martin and it was also done as a movie in 2007 with Emma Roberts in the title role.
