Obama vows to hunt down ISIS
President Barack Obama has vowed to hunt down members of the Islamic State (ISIS) and to cut off their financing wherever this may be.
In a news conference after a meeting with Asian leaders in Malaysia, Obama also said the United States and its allies will not relent in its fight to combat the terror group.
“Destroying ISIS is not only a realistic goal, we’re going to get it done,” he said, according to Reuters.
“We will destroy them. We will take back land they are currently in, take out their financing, hunt down leadership, dismantle their networks, supply lines and we will destroy them.”
Obama noted it “would be helpful” if Russia directed its focus on tackling Islamic State.
He also expressed hope that Pres. Vladimir Putin would agree to a leadership transition in Syria that meant its president stepping down.
Russia has said that Syria is its closest ally in the Middle East.
ISIS has claimed responsibility to the many terror attacks in different parts of the world, particularly in the Middle East, where it now control large swathes of land.
A month ago,its membersclaimed that they brought down a Russian jet in Egypt’s Sinai, killing all 224 people on board.
The group was also responsible for the Paris attacks two weeks ago, wherein 130 people were killed and more than 300 injured.
