Globe Telecom is partnering with global phone manufacturer OPPO as part of its commitment to boost mobile Internet penetration in the country, giving customers full data connectivity with their newly purchased OPPO camera phones for free.
Customers availing themselves of the 5-inch screened, metal-clad OPPO R7 Lite in a prepaid kit get a free Globe Prepaid SIM loaded with 100MB data per month for two months.

The partnership between Globe and OPPO began with the launch of the OPPO Mirror 5 which was also offered with a free Globe Prepaid SIM plus 100MB data per month for two months.
The R7 Lite camera phone runs on OPPO’s newest OS, the ColorOS 2.1, which is based on Android 5.1. It features a metal unibody design and a 2.5D arc edge screen for a premium look and feel. Globe continued to dominate the country’s mobile-data segment after posting mobile-browsing and other data revenues of P9.5 billion in the first six months of the year, a 53% growth from previous year’s level of P6.2 billion. On a quarterly basis, second-quarter 2015 revenues reached P5.1 billion, up 16% from the previous quarter at P4.4 billion.
This achievement brought the contribution of mobile-data revenues to total mobile revenues by 23% as of 1st half of 2015, coming from 16% the previous year.
With mobile data business growing at a rapid pace, data users from Globe’s overall mobile customer base have grown to 37% during the same period, a substantial increase from previous year’s 17%. Wireless data traffic on the Globe network has also increased by 82% year-on-year with the growing number of smartphone users and applications that leverage the Internet.
