Nicki_Minaj_-_Live_Femme_Fatale_8_croppedNicki Minaj and ABC Family are teaming up to bring a half-hour comedy series based on the music artist’s life. The single camera TV show will follow the immigration of Minaj’s family from Trinidad and her childhood life in Queens in the 1990s.

“Nicki Minaj is a force to be reckoned with at everything she touches,” said Karey Burke, an ABC Family executive, in a press release according to Deadline. “We’re beyond thrilled to bring her one-of-a-kind story to our channel. Nicki is an international superstar, yet not everyone knows how inspiring and hilarious her true story is, and we can’t wait to share it with the world.”

“This is one of the more unique adventures I’ve ever embarked on,” the pop star said in the same statement. “I couldn’t be more proud and excited to team up with an amazing group of people to give the world something really special.”

Task to write the script will be Kate Angelo, who also serves as executive producer like Minaj. Aaron Kaplan will also serve as executive producer.

Casting for the series is underway, but the singer will also be appearing on her own TV show. Deadline reports that before Nicki became a huge popstar, she studied at acting first.  Shooting will take place this winter in Queens.
