The period medical drama series “The Knick” returns on Cinemax on Oct. 16 and a new trailer has been released online to tease its viewers on what to expect in the upcoming season.

”Things have changed, but the show must go on,” says Dr. John Thackery (Clive Owen) the head of the surgery department at the New York hospital. He claims he wants to make history, but his drug abuse is still a big problem judging from his demeanor. It also looks like he’ll be trapped at sea, but perhaps that’s a dream sequence or hallucination?

“His circus tent, the madness, that would all come roaring back,” says Dr. Bertie Chickering Jr. (Michael Angarano) in the tease.

“We’ve already done so much work in taking it to very interesting, unusual and dangerous places. It’s really exciting,” Owen said once after the end of last season’s successful offering, according to Vulture.

The show also stars Jeremy Bobb, Juliet Rylance, Eve Hewson, Michael Angarano, Chris Sullivan, Cara Seymour, Eric Johnson, David Fierro, and Maya Kazan. The series is shot entirely by Steven Soderbergh.

The show is currently streaming its first season via HBO Go. Check out the teaser to Season 2 below.
