John Legend and Wife Chrissy Teigen To Get Own TV Sitcom Based on their Married Life
Oscar-winning singer John Legend and his wife, model Chrissy Teigen, are set to have their own TV show. The series will be inspired by the interracial couple and it will be developed by Kenya Barris for ABC.
Barris, who already has a comedy series on the same network (“Black-ish”) revealed the plan via Buzzfeed. “It’s inspired by them — they’re both super creative and super effusive and I’m just fans of them and everything they stand for,” he told the news outlet.
There are no concrete details for the show yet, but Barris further said that the show “will be about an interracial couple. We don’t know what’s going to be what. But it will be a part of the show in terms of showing those two world’s colliding and coming together — their issues and their obstacles that [happen inside] their personal relationship.”
The project is tentatively called “Ordinary People,” based on John Legend’s famous song, according to Refinery. According to Marie Claire, the couple will not star in their show, however, but they will be part of the producing team.
If this gets a greenlight, shooting for the pilot will begin in February, the reports cited.
Teigen and Legend dated for four years and married in 2013.
