Ronda Rousey vs. Holly Holm in 2016? News and Details here!
Ronda Rousey is expected to return to the Octagon this coming December though it remains to be seen if it will be against Miesha Tate or Cris ‘Cyborg’ Justino.
Tate was earlier tagged as Rousey’s next opponent, something that was announced by no other than UFC president Dana White.
If plans push through, it will be Tate’s third showdown with Rousey. Rousey won both previous fights though Tate has proven that she has been the toughest so far against Rousey, the only fighter who has lasted more than the first round against the reigning UFC Women’s bantamweight champion.
But that was before the name of Cris ‘Cyborg’ Justino suddenly came to the picture. According to her manager, George Prajin, and former wrestling coach, Tito Ortiz, the UFC allegedly approached them for a possible fight this coming December. White clarified that Cyborg was never offered a fight with Rousey.
Prior to the rumors, White said that Justino had to satisfy two things: one is to make the catchweight of 135 lbs and the other of which is to fight at least once in the UFC before being lined up as a possible opponent for Rousey.
To date, the issue on who between Tate and Justino is still up and nothing has been made official as far as the December tiff is concerned.
And while all this is left unsettled, the Denver Post bares that Rousey made the announcement via ABC’s Good Morning America. The reigning UFC bantamweight champion reveals that she will be defending her title against the world’s former no. 1 female boxer – Holly Holm – on January 2, 2016 in Las Vegas.
Holm is a 33-year-old boxer from Albuquerque turned mixed martial artist who was signed last year after lengthy negotiations.
Rousey brands Holm as one of the most decorated striker of the sport and considers Holm as her biggest challenge to date.
The question now is with the announcement, will a fight this December against either Tate or Justino really (or ever) take place?
