Superstar Anne Hathaway To Star In TV Series ‘ The Ambassador’s Wife’
Anne Hathaway is heading to television. The Oscar-winning actress, who has earned her A-lister spot in Hollywood, is doing a limited television series, “The Ambassadors’ Wife.” The story is based on the book written by Jennifer Steil.
“The Ambassador’s Wife” tells the tale of a British woman, the wife of the American ambassador, who was kidnapped in Yemen. The book was published last month, according to Deadline.
The show is going to be produced by Mark Gordon Co and eOne, but no network has yet been named for airing the series. It will be the first high profile production for Gordon’s company and it is expected that bidding will be most-awaited for this production, given the calibre of its lead star.
Hathaway will also serve as the show’s producer, according to Variety.
“The Ambassador’s Wife’ is an incredible story that pulls you in immediately and resonates with all of us based on the images and news headlines that are pervasive in our lives today,” Gordon said in the press release. “We are so fortunate to have Anne starring in this timely, gripping and compassionate drama. She is in a league all her own, and we cannot think of anyone who can better portray Steil’s complex heroine.”
Hathaway follows in the footsteps of yet another high profile actor, Matthew McConaughey, who also did television in 2014 via the HBO limited series “True Detective.”
