‘Grease’ Live Musical on Fox Finds its Danny Zuko; It’s ‘Graceland’ Actor Aaron Tveit!

Aaron_TveitThe live musical production of “Grease” on Fox has just picked their lead actor. Aaron Tveit will be playing the role of Danny Zuko in the special presentation.

“I’m thrilled and honored to be joining this incredibly talented team of actors in re-imagining this classic and beloved musical,” Tveit said, according to Entertainment Weekly. “Playing Danny Zuko is a dream role and I can’t wait to be a part of all the fun that comes along with performing live on television.”

Tveit is currently starring in an action series on USA Network’s “Graceland,” where he plays an undercover drug busting FBI agent Mike Warren. The show is already running its third season on the cable channel. He is no stranger to musicals, though, since before he getting on television, he had been doing shows on Broadway and starred in the production of “Catch Me If You Can.” He was also part of the “Les Miserables” 2012 movie starring Hugh Jackman. Tveit was also on “Gossip Girl” for a multi-episode appearance as Trip Van der Bilt.

“Singing is one thing I don’t get to do as often as I would like so I want to take it upon myself to get that going again,” the actor once said to Hollywood Life.

Tveit joins Julianne Hough and Vanessa Hudgens in the live musical. Hough has been cast as Sandy and Hudgens as Rizzo earlier.  Also added to the cast is Carlos PenaVega who will play Kenicki, Danny Zuko’s sidekick.

While it is truly shaping up and coming along, the live musical on Fox won’t air until January 2016.
