The revival of “Heroes” TV series via “Heroes Reborn” has just come out with its first teaser and many say, the tone is as depressing as it can be.

The updated show carries the tagline “In a desperate future, the world awaits its heroes,” as seen in the videos and opens with the question “Where are the heroes?” that has been spread across the land. The music in the teaser is “Nothing Else Matters” from Metallica and it sounds haunting as children are singing it.

Just like the last series, “Heroes Reborn” features a group of people who have suddenly become aware that they are different. Their extra-ordinary abilities opens a new world for them, but it also affects how they deal with the people in their lives.

The show will run for 13 episodes, considered as a miniseries on NBC. Set for a September debut, the series picks up from when it was last aired (back in 2006). Some of the original members of the cast are set to return, such as Greg Grunberg as Matt Parkman, Jack Coleman as H.R.G., Jimmy Jean-Louis as The Haitian, Masi Oka as Hiro Nakamura, and Sendhil Ramamurthy as Mohinder Suresh.

The new  stars of the show include Zachary Levi (Chuck), Ryan Guzman (The Boy Next Door), Robbie Kay (Once Upon a Time), Danika Yarosh (Shameless), Judith Shekoni (The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2), Kiki Sukezane (Death Yankee 3), Henry Zebrowski (A to Z), and Gatlin Green (Criminal Minds).

“Heroes Reborn” is from Tim Kring, who created the original series.
