Community Season 6 Finale May Not Be Its Last; Joel McHale Talks Movie Plans
The finale episode of “Community” Season 6 airs on Yahoo! Screen this week, and while it looks like it the show is done, as many of the original cast members have moved on with other projects, sources at the streaming site says there might be hope for more from this series.
“With the season six finale of ‘Community’ airing today, we’re continually excited by how much fans are engaging with the series,” a spokesperson from Yahoo! Screen told Variety. “Now that all episodes are available for binge viewing, stay tuned for how we keep ‘Community’ delighting its fans,” the source added.
Meanwhile, it has always been the desire of fans to have #SixSeasonsAndAMovie for “Community” and the show’s star, Joel McHale, has expressed he is on board with this, when he visited Conan O’ Brien’s show the other night. “I think we will do a movie if [writer Dan Harmon] will write the script,” the actor said in the late night show, as Time Magazine reported.
“Community” had a troubled run on NBC where it first aired. Low ratings had threatened the show for cancellation and in between seasons, its creator Dan Harmon, left the series due to differences with the network. The show eventually ended up on Yahoo! Screen, a non-traditional TV environment, where it ran its sixth and possible final season.
