Say Goodbye to Emily Thorne! ABC Cancels ‘Revenge’

Seems “Revenge” has been red-marked and crossed out, just like many of its characters in the series. ABC has announced that the drama will no longer return after this season. The show has been cancelled.

Emily Van Camp RevengeThe episode airing May 10th will serve as the series finale for “Revenge,” according to the show’s executive producer, Sunil Nayar.

“We’ve been talking to the network and we all just wanted to make sure that we felt very confident. Now that everybody has seen the finale—which is fabulous—everybody understands that as much as we all adore the show, it has hit exactly the mark it needed to to end. This is the series finale of Revenge that will be airing in a couple weeks,” said Nayar in a statement for the press.

The drama series, which debuted in 2011 to rave reviews, has been hinting of its end when one of its lead stars, Madeleine Stowe (who plays Victoria Grayson), decided to depart. Her character killed herself in the show.

While cohesive and intriguing during its first run, “Revenge” has lose its main showrunners in the following seasons. Writing and plot development has also suffered and it started to languish in the ratings in the United States. “Revenge,” however, remains popular overseas.

There will only be a couple of episodes left before the story of Emily Thorne’s (played by Emily Van Camp) quest for vengeance is over. But Nayar said that the finale will have a tiny cliffhanger.

“We don’t want people to get weary of the stories we’re telling, so we felt like they deserve an ending to this novel that Mike Kelley started four years ago. I really feel like the last couple chapters are worthy of the first many,” revealed Nayar.

As many of the original characters are already dead, will main protagonist Emily Thorne also get the same ending? Catch the finale of “Revenge” on Sunday, May 10 at 10 p.m. on ABC.
