Mad Men: What’s Up Ahead for the Series Finale?
The final chapter of “Mad Men” will begin unfolding on April 5, 2015 on AMC. Its creator Matt Weiner and his team have always kept the details under wraps. But it has been hinted that the second part of the show’s final season will be like a finale episode for each of the character. Weiner can only confirm that the finale will focus on the big six, namely Don, Joan, Peggy, Betty, Peter and Roger.
There are rumors that the chief character Don Draper (played by Jon Hamm) might die, particularly since the opening sequence to the series has always featured a suited man falling down a building. If not dying in this manner, it’s been assumed that Don Draper may also die from a brain tumor, given how often he gets these visions and hallucinations throughout the series. As for his marital status, Don could end up divorced and dating again by the end of the series, too. In the first have of Season 7, he and his wife Megan (played by Jennifer Pare) have actually called it quits, remember?
There are also rumors that hints of Betty (played by January Jones) becoming an activist, a fitting end to her character, who has had tremendous growth over the last eight years the show has been on.
A spoiler from TV Line confirms that there’s a character who will go on a blind date, and we’re guessing this could be Joan (played by Christina Hendricks). The actress has divulged that she especially likes the ending for Joan, a character she is actually very protective of.
Ted, Peggy’s former beau, will return this finale season and Peggy (played by Elisabeth Moss) will get her closure. The actress has said she’s “ecstatic” about the end of her character and hints of special scenes with Jon Hamm’s Don Draper. Peggy and Don have always maintained a unique relationship with each other.
This finale season is also going to be about another transition, with the storyline moving forward to the 70’s.
Catch the last big hurrah for “Mad Men” on AMC Sunday, this April 5.
