E-cigs should be regulated by DOH and FDA

HealthJustice Philippines, a think tank and advocacy group with legal expertise in tobacco control and health promotion, proposed that electronic nicotine delivery systems (ENDS), better known as e-cigarettes, should be regulated by the Department of Health (DoH) and the Food and Drug Authority (FDA) instead of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).

Health and anti-tobacco groups commend Duterte’s line veto of tobacco tax earmarking

Public health think tank HealthJustice Philippines and the Southeast Asia Tobacco Control Alliance (SEATCA) expressed dismay over the approval of the very low tobacco tax increase in the TRAIN, but nonetheless commend President Duterte’s veto of the unconstitutional allotment of the incremental revenues of the tobacco taxes, the use for which has already been provided for in the Republic Act 10351 or the Sin Tax Reform Law.

Health groups to Duterte: Appoint Health and Trade Sec who have no links to the tobacco industry

HealthJustice Philippines, Medical Action Group and WomanHealth Philippines, composed of lawyers, medical doctors and tobacco control and health advocates, called on President-elect Rodrigo Duterte, himself a known advocate of tobacco control, to appoint “fearless and uncompromising leaders who can be tough against the tobacco industry” to the Departments of Health and Trade, both of which have huge roles in the implementation of tobacco control laws.
