PBA: K.J. McDaniels, Dez Wells to play for TNT, SMB in Govs Cup

Fresh off their classic 2019 PBA Commissioner’s Cup Finals showdown, both newly-crowned titlists San Miguel Beer and runners-up TNT KaTropa have already signed imports for the season-ending Governors’ Cup which begins on September.

The KaTropa have signed 6-foot-5 wingerK.J. McDaniels, a notable figure who has also played in the NBA.

McDaniels was drafted by the Philadelphia 76ers and averaged 9.2 PPG in his rookie season.

He went on to become a teammate of Terrence Jones for the Houston Rockets.

Meanwhile, the Beermen have tapped the services of 6-foot-4 wing man Dez Wells in their bid for a grand slam.

A former Xavier and Maryland player in the US NCAA and a former OKC Blue player for the NBA G-League, Wells last played for an Italian club VL Pesaro.

The Beermen defeated the KaTropa, 4-2 in the Commissioner’s Cup with Terrence Romeo being hailed as Finals MVP.

The Magnolia Hotshots Pambansang Manok are the defending champions of the Governors’ Cup.
