Production for “Pitch Perfect 3” has been delayed due to changes behind the scenes and scheduling conflicts. First slated for an early 2017 release, the movie’s release date was changed quite a few times.

Producer and star Elizabeth Banks also expressed she’s dropping out as director for the third film, which further delayed filming. However, Variety has confirmed that the movie has found a new director in Trish Sie.

Banks still remains as producer to “Pitch Perfect 3” and has even wished the new director well on her Twitter. It’s unclear when the movie will begin filming, as the original plan was supposed to be during the summer. But nevertheless, the project is still coming along and could potentially complete before its target date of a December 2017 release.

Stars Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson and Brittany Snow are all returning for “Pitch Perfect 3” and even Elizabeth Banks is expected to make her appearance as the singing competition’s commentator. Hailee Steinfeld is also in the cast, MTV reports.  Her character was introduced in the second film. It’s still unclear if the men, such as Skylar Astin, Adam DeVine and Ben Platt, are going to be part of the third film.

“Pitch Perfect” is about an a Capella college composed of all girls. Both of its films have earned well at the box office. However, it’s not yet known what “Pitch Perfect 3” will be about since the last film showed the girls moving on from college.
