NBA 2K27 Trailer Drops: Wemby, Clark, Rose Steal the Show
NBA 2K27 has officially lifted the curtain on its latest installment, releasing its first gameplay trailer featuring cover athletes Victor Wembanyama, Caitlin Clark and Derrick Rose.
The trailer offers fans an early glimpse of improved visuals, updated gameplay mechanics and several new features arriving before the basketball simulation launches on Thursday, Sept. 4. It also sets the stage for a full gameplay presentation scheduled later this month.
New features unveiled
2K confirmed that its “Preseason Breakdown: NBA 2K27 Game Reveal” will stream live on Monday, Aug. 18, at 10 a.m. PT across Twitch, YouTube, TikTok and X. The presentation will showcase every major gameplay addition in what the publisher describes as a franchise-first reveal event.
Gameplay improvements include smarter AI defenders capable of contesting shots more effectively and maintaining stronger defensive positioning, particularly in The REC.
A redesigned Dunk Meter will dynamically adjust throughout each attempt by reading defensive positioning from takeoff through the finish. Open lanes will create larger green windows for successful dunks, while defenders arriving late can still reduce the chance of converting.
The MyPLAYER Builder has also expanded from 40 to 53 badges, including 19 new additions that give players more options when creating builds. Cap Breakers return as well, allowing attribute upgrades to be previewed directly inside the Builder before they are applied.
MyTEAM and MyCAREER evolve
MyTEAM introduces one of the mode’s biggest changes with a unified Auction House across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2. The shared marketplace combines listings from all supported platforms, giving players access to a larger selection of cards while reducing pricing inconsistencies.
Auction purchases will also arrive instantly, eliminating the previous verification delay before cards appeared in player collections.
MyNBA receives several realism-focused additions, including implementation of the NBA’s new collective bargaining agreement second-apron salary cap rules and the option to include no-trade clauses in free-agent contracts.
Meanwhile, MyCAREER returns with a redesigned nighttime version of The City featuring neon lighting. The popular layout remains largely unchanged, while the iconic Rucker Park becomes the centerpiece of this year’s prelude story, “Fire & Concrete,” and the Street Kings experience.
Players purchasing the Deluxe or Ultra Edition will receive Early Access beginning Friday, Aug. 28, at 9 a.m. PDT on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC via Steam and Nintendo Switch 2.
NBA 2K27 launches worldwide on Thursday, Sept. 4, with additional gameplay details expected during the Aug. 18 presentation.
