DOST-TAPI brings Filipino AI innovations to GITEX AI Asia 2026
As artificial intelligence continues to redefine enterprise systems across Asia, the Department of Science and Technology–Technology Application and Promotion Institute (DOST-TAPI) is positioning Filipino innovations within the global technology landscape. The initiative emphasizes not just conceptual development but deployable, enterprise-ready solutions capable of competing in international markets.
Through its campaign “PhilippiNOW: Philippines’ New Opportunities Worldwide – Activating Innovations from Within,” alongside the Science and Technology Promotion for International Contest and Exhibits (SPICE) program, DOST-TAPI led the Philippine delegation at GITEX AI Asia 2026. The participation placed local technologies in one of the region’s most influential platforms for artificial intelligence, startups, and digital investment.

Asia AI investment shift
GITEX AI Asia 2026 served as a major convergence point for global technology leaders, bringing together more than 550 enterprises and startups, over 250 investors, and around 175 speakers. The event reflected a clear regional transition where artificial intelligence is no longer in an experimental phase but is actively deployed across industries.
Across sectors such as cybersecurity, telecommunications, robotics, and enterprise systems, AI has become embedded in operational frameworks and strategic planning. Companies are increasingly focused on implementation and measurable outcomes rather than exploration, signaling a mature and accelerating digital economy.
Singapore continues to reinforce its role as a regional hub in this transformation, with projected AI-related spending in Southeast Asia expected to reach USD 78 billion by 2026. The country’s growing infrastructure capacity and investment environment position it as a central node for innovation, data systems, and cross-border collaboration.

Filipino AI innovation push
DOST-TAPI’s participation directly addresses the needs of enterprise decision-makers seeking scalable and integration-ready AI solutions. The initiative also connects startups, research institutions, investors, and government stakeholders to strengthen the broader innovation ecosystem.
During GITEX AI Asia 2026, the Philippine delegation presented multiple AI-driven technologies designed for real-world deployment across industries. These included Collo for property management, Farmesto for IoT-based greenhouse automation, WEHLO for environmental monitoring, GradeChum for AI-assisted grading, Cerebro for digital learning systems, Duon Wayfinding for indoor navigation, and AID-FMM for agricultural diagnostics.
Several of these innovations achieved notable recognition during the event. Collo advanced as a Top 50 semi-finalist, while Duon Wayfinding and Cerebro reached the Top 10 finals in the Supernova Pitch Competition. Cerebro also received the Expand North Star Special Award, reflecting strong investor interest and commercial viability.
These achievements highlight the growing competitiveness of Filipino-developed technologies in global markets. They also signal increasing potential for commercialization as these solutions transition from research environments into enterprise applications.
For DOST-TAPI, the outcomes of GITEX AI Asia 2026 reinforce its role as a connector between innovation creators and industry demand. By supporting commercialization pathways and facilitating international exposure, the institute strengthens the Philippines’ position within the evolving global AI ecosystem.
