The Government Service Insurance System achieved a major breakthrough in its modernization drive after GSIS Touch officially exceeded two million registered users. The milestone reflects accelerating adoption of mobile-based government services among members and pensioners nationwide.

GSIS said the surge in registrations underscores a growing preference for digital transactions that reduce processing time and eliminate the need for in-person visits. The mobile platform has become a primary gateway for accessing benefits, loans, and essential GSIS services.

To mark the milestone, GSIS granted cash incentives to 201 members and pensioners who registered during the qualifying period. The two-millionth registrant received ₱20,000, while the following 200 users were awarded ₱2,000 each, credited directly to their GSIS eCard accounts on January 26, 2026.

Incentives and recognition mark adoption milestone

GSIS President and General Manager Wick Veloso said the achievement highlights the importance of designing public services around user convenience and accessibility. He noted that digitalization efforts are focused on simplifying processes while ensuring that services remain inclusive for members nationwide.

The two-millionth registered user, Engr. John Francis Mina from the City Government of Valenzuela, was formally recognized during a ceremonial turnover at the GSIS Head Office in Pasay City. Mina said GSIS Touch significantly reduced travel costs, waiting time, and work disruptions previously required for in-person transactions.

Mobile platform reshapes GSIS service delivery

Of the 201 incentive recipients, 113 were pensioners and 88 were active members from various government sectors, including local government units, national agencies, and state-owned corporations. More than half of the winners came from Visayas and Mindanao, highlighting the platform’s nationwide reach.

Launched in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic, GSIS Touch has evolved into a full-service digital platform offering round-the-clock access to loans, claims, transaction tracking, and pensioner revalidation using facial recognition technology. The app also generates a GSIS Digital ID, replacing physical UMID cards for official transactions.
