Social housing momentum continues as SHFC rolls out major vertical projects nationwide, starting with the newly approved San Juan Phase 2 development.

The Social Housing Finance Corporation has approved Makabagong San Juan Pambansang Pabahay Phase 2, marking a major breakthrough for housing beneficiaries in San Juan City. The project was officially approved on Thursday, Jan. 29, ending more than seven years of waiting for hundreds of families seeking permanent homes.

Led by SHFC President and CEO Federico Laxa and the agency’s Credit Committee, the approval signals a renewed push to deliver long-promised housing solutions to the San Juan community. More than 1,000 families are expected to benefit from the landmark development once construction is completed.

The project is set to become the tallest vertical housing development under President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s Expanded Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino Program to date. Rising 34 stories, the development is designed to provide safe, decent, and affordable housing while maximizing limited urban space in the city.

Tallest 4PH vertical housing to serve 1,100 families

Makabagong San Juan Pambansang Pabahay Phase 2 is expected to house more than 1,100 families in San Juan City. The building will feature over 130 parking slots and four commercial units intended to support residents’ daily needs and contribute to local economic activity.

“This long-held dream of San Juan families is finally coming to fruition,” Laxa said following the project’s approval. He credited the close coordination between SHFC and the local government, led by San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora, for pushing the long-delayed project forward.

The initiative builds on momentum from the approval of Makabagong San Juan Pambansang Pabahay Phase 1 in September last year. That earlier phase is also expected to provide housing to more than 1,000 families, further strengthening the city’s vertical housing pipeline.
