Bitget, a leading universal exchange platform, joined forces with The Ascent Project to assist communities in northern Cebu impacted by the recent 6.9 magnitude earthquake. The initiative delivered P100,000 worth of relief goods, including food packs and hygiene kits, to residents in Bogo City and San Remigio.

A total of 118 residents affected by the disaster received assistance through the donation drive. Bitget CEO Gracy Chen emphasized the Filipino value of kabayanihan, highlighting the importance of teamwork and community support during crises.

Relief efforts grounded in compassion and local partnership

Chen expressed her empathy for affected families and the commitment to support those struggling. “Our community in Cebu has helped us stand with those in need during such distress, we hope to support and continue building trust,” she said.

The relief operation on November 2 was mobilized through Bitget’s local trading community, one of the company’s longest-running grassroots groups in Southeast Asia. This approach reflects Bitget’s hands-on engagement with communities to identify urgent needs.

Long-term commitment to community impact

The Bitget The Ascent Project initiative is part of a broader global impact strategy. This includes partnerships with organizations like UNICEF, aiming to expand digital and blockchain education to over 1 million young people by 2027.

As recovery continues in northern Cebu, Bitget and The Ascent Project are exploring additional ways to provide assistance and support rebuilding initiatives. Chen highlighted, “We have always been more than just a crypto exchange platform, and this act reflects our approach to work directly with user communities to provide timely support.”
