HUAWEI unveils Mate XT Ultimate Design & Macau Pass partnership for seamless wearable payments
HUAWEI held a launch event in Malaysia on February 18 where it introduced its latest flagship product, the Mate XT Ultimate Design. Alongside this product debut, HUAWEI announced a strategic partnership with Macau Pass that marks a significant innovation in the realm of wearable payments.
A New Era of Wearable Payments
This collaboration integrates MPay, Macau’s leading mobile payment platform, with select HUAWEI watch series. Now, users of the HUAWEI WATCH GT 4 series, WATCH GT5 series, WATCH FIT3, WATCH D2, and WATCH ULTIMATE can link their MPay accounts and pay with just a tap of the wrist—no smartphone needed. In addition to MPay, these watch series also support GCash (Philippines) and Touch ‘n Go e-Wallet (Malaysia), offering a versatile payment experience.

The system employs advanced dynamic encryption technology to prevent QR code fraud, ensuring that every transaction is secure. For visitors from the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong, the MPay app can be easily downloaded and registered, allowing them to enjoy the seamless “tap your wrist to pay” experience while in Macao.
Driving Innovation in Digital Payments
Dickson Yang, Director of Huawei Device Business Hong Kong, explained,
“Technology exists to serve humanity. In designing and innovating wearables, we focus on incorporating more practical features into users’ daily lives. Macau Pass has established MPay not only as a widely used regional payment platform but also as a gateway to diverse services. This collaboration will drive innovation in wearable device payments, and we plan to explore further partnerships to build a comprehensive ecosystem for wearables.”
Sun Ho, Chairman and CEO of Macau Pass, added,
“We’re honored to partner with global technology leader HUAWEI as one of the first three international e-wallets supporting the HUAWEI watch. The launch of this wearable payment solution in Macao enhances payment convenience and represents a significant innovation in our financial technology industry, injecting fresh energy into Macao’s smart city construction.”
At the event, Macau Pass was honored with the HUAWEI Outstanding Ecosystem Award 2025, further cementing the strength of the partnership. Moving forward, HUAWEI and Macau Pass will leverage their technological and financial expertise to explore new collaboration opportunities, aiming to provide users with an integrated smart living experience and contribute to the evolution of Macao as a smart city.
