Turkey detains 12 IS group suspects in Ankara

NKARA – Turkish police have detained 12 foreign nationals in capital Ankara for alleged links to the Islamic State (IS) group, semi-official Anadolu Agency reported on Wednesday (Sept. 29).

The police said the detained foreign suspects were in contact with the IS group in “conflict regions” that have been carrying out attacks.

The security forces have carried out simultaneous raids and operations continue to catch the remaining suspects, the agency reported.

The IS group has been blamed for a spate of deadly attacks in Turkey since 2015.

Turkey’s counter-terrorism units in response have been conducting operations against the group’s members in the country.
