MTV cancels ‘Eye Candy’ after one season

The crime drama “Eye Candy” is no longer coming back to MTV as  its star Victoria Justice announced on her Twitter account that the show has been cancelled by the network.

Justice writes: “I wanted you guys to hear it from me first, that the cast and I received news that Eye Candy will not be returning for season 2. Even though a lot of you are going to feel sad/angry, please know that playing Lindy Sampson, is something that I loved and I will hold dear to my heart.”

The series, which spans 10 episodes, had its debut last January. The show is based on a book written by R.L. Stine, which follows a hacker who eventually ends up being pursued by a serial killer she meets on a dating website.

Early on, the show met production problems and in fact, the pilot episode was redeveloped according to Cinema Blend. The same report also noted that ratings for “Eye Candy” was at an average 592,000 viewers. Along with Justice, the show also featured Casey Deidrick, Harvey Guillen, Kiersey Clemons and John Garet Stocker.

Justice, who first shot to fame among young viewers in the series “Victorious” on Nickelodeon also thanked Christian Taylor and Jason Blum, the showrunners of “Eye Candy” in her Twitter statement. She also expressed her gratitude to the fans, “It’s because of all of you that I get to do what I love. I am beyond grateful for that. It made me so happy that you embraced the show the way you did. I was so lucky to have you guys along for the ride, because you made it that much more exciting,” Justice wrote.
