Filming for “Thor: Ragnarok,” the third film in the franchise, has officially begun in Queensland, Australia. Actors Chris Hemsworth and Mark Ruffalo have already been spotted in the area, along with the director Taika Waititi.

Gold Coast Bulletin shared photos from the “Thor: Ragnarok” set, which is supposed to take place at the Village Roadshow Studios. According to the workers, the set is not yet finished and they are at least two weeks behind. However, the delays to the full construction are expected given the massive production of the Hollywood film. Nevertheless, filming proceeds as planned as “Thor: Ragnarok” will mostly make use of CGI effects and there will be little scenes taken on Earth.

Set for a release in early November 2017, “Thor: Ragnarok,” a story about the God of Thunder, has plenty of time for filming. The movie follows Thor’s story after movie-goers saw him last in “Captain America: Civil War” and “The Avengers: Age of Ultron.” In both movies, Thor was part of an ensemble of characters.

“Thor: Ragnarok” also stars Cate Blanchette, Jeff Goldblum, Karl Urban, Tessa Thompson and Anthony Hopkins. The first two “Thor” movies earned over a billion in the box office, combined. Missing from the cast this time around are Natalie Portman (Jane Foster), Tom Hiddleston (Loki) and Jaimie Alexander (Lady Sif).
