There will be a huge revelation regarding the death of Jack (Milo Ventimiglia) when “This is Us” season 2 returns on NBC this fall. Mandy Moore, who plays Jack’s wife Rebecca, recently said in an interview that a chunk of the puzzle will be dropped in the first episode.

Moore assured the fans waiting for an answer on Jack’s death that part of the mystery will be “solved” in the very first episode of “This is Us” season 2. She shared this bit while visiting Jimmy Kimmel’s show last Friday night to promote her movie “47 Meters Down.”

Her declaration seems to jive with showrunner Dan Fogelman’s statement when he told Entertainment Weekly that “a huge piece of the puzzle,” will be revealed in the first episode. But Fogelman forewarned that even as there will be some answers, there could arise more questions about Jack’s death, which will be tackled “over the course of the season.”

Viewers have speculated on the possible answers to this mystery but Fogelman revealed fan theories haven’t been right on the mark so far. He also admitted he didn’t expect Jack’s death to cause such a ruckus among viewers.

Meanwhile, “This is Us” season 2 will also be dealing with the wedding of Kate (Chrissy Metz) and Toby (Chris Sullivan) but whether or not this actually happens is still in the cards.

“I think that Toby and Kate have a long way to go to really get to know each other, and to know themselves,” Metz said of her character’s storyline.

NBC has not yet revealed the exact premiere date for “This is Us” season 2 but the writers are already working on season 3. In January, NBC renewed the series for a second and third season for 36 episodes. The show emerged as the number one top-rating series from last season and even beat “The Big Bang Theory” in the ratings.
