Globe Telecom activated 10 more cell sites using the 700 megahertz spectrum as the company takes concrete steps to honor its commitment to further improve the mobile internet experience of its customers.
Globe Telecom continue to charge ahead and utilized company’s additional allocation in the 2600 MHz spectrum for 130 sites in Visayas and Mindanao, providing customers in those regions with additional network capacities to support growing demand for bandwidth.
Globe Telecom secured the support of the DOTC to use train stations around the metropolis to host network infrastructure that would significantly improve the mobile internet experience and connectivity of the commuting public.
Globe Telecom fired up over the weekend the country’s first cell site that utilized the 700 megahertz spectrum, generating speeds that ranged between 60-100 Mbps. The company expects to deliver performance improvements as it completes ongoing optimization.
Metro Manila is most problematic in the deployment of new cell sites with main issues ranging from social acceptability, neighbors’ opposition and homeowners associations’ restrictions due to aesthetic reasons, family conflicts and political bickering among local government officials, Globe Telecom said.
