As the Asian wave continues to soar in the west, HBO Max, the upcoming streaming service to compete with Netflix, has tapped Lionsgate TV to for the eight-episode docuseries inspired by “Crazy Rich Asians,” the hit movie from 2018. Titled “The Ho,” the show will follow the lives of a Vietnamese family who are living the American dream.

HBO Max, the upcoming streaming platform from HBO and Warner Media to compete with Netflix, is developing a new limited drama series starring Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o. The show, titled “Americanah” will be adapted on the small screen by actress and showrunner Danai Gurira. It will be based on a novel with the same title written by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie.
