To mark the historical milestone of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) turning 50, the ASEAN Foundation is working with strategic partners to establish several new initiatives centered around building a sense of ASEAN identity. The first of which is the “ASEAN Data Science Explorers” (ASEAN DSE), a regional competition jointly organised with SAP, the market leader in enterprise application software.

Multi sectoral groups and parliamentarians in Southeast Asia to ASCC Ministers and ASEAN Leaders: Address the missing link. Adopt a Social ASEAN.

One hundred national and regional networks of civil society organizations (CSOs), trade unions, workers, migrants and other vulnerable groups and parliamentarians in Southeast Asia called on leaders of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) to adopt a people’s agenda for a Social ASEAN in order to realize a “people-oriented, people-centered ASEAN” and make ASEAN’s 50th Anniversary “truly meaningful.”

Philippines is one of only 2 countries in the world that have unused 700 MHz frequency

The Philippines has yet again made a record for itself, this time belonging to a list of countries in the world that has not used its 700 MHz spectrum frequency. And this time the list is very short, only 2 countries in fact made it to this list – Philippines and Thailand – both in the ASEAN region. If this new technology was opened up globally to reduce the cost of broadband in many countries, the question many people are asking is, why have we not used this asset for the benefit of Filipino consumers and netizens?
