NFL News: Roethlisberger secures five-year deal with Steelers

PITTSBURGH – Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger signed a new five-year contract on Friday with the Pittsburgh Steelers, where he has spent his entire NFL career.

He has led the Steelers to two Super Bowl titles and in 159 games with the team ”Big Ben” has passed for 39,057 yards and 251 touchdowns.

”As much as my wife and kids are family, so is the Rooney family and my team and coaches,” he said. ”I’ve always said this is where I want to be.”

Financial terms of the contract, signed as Roethlisberger was heading into the final year of an eight-year $102 million contract he signed in 2008, were not revealed by the team.

Roethlisberger tied for the NFL lead with a career-high 4,952 passing yards in 2014, with 32 touchdowns — which matched a career-high first set in 2007. (AFP)
