Sarah Hyland’s time on “Modern Family” remains secure as the series recently snagged a two-season renewal from ABC for Season 9 and 10. But this summer, viewers will be able to catch Hyland in a different series as she landed a guest spot on Freeform’s “Shadowhunters,” which is now in its second season.

Details of Hyland’s appearance has been kept under wraps as it was not revealed what role she will be playing or when her episode appearance will happen. But viewers shouldn’t expect to see shades of Haley Dunphy in her guest character as “Shadowhunters” has a different theme and genre as “Modern Family.” The Freeform show is a fantasy drama, while her long-time award-winning series has been dominating comedy.

Hyland has been award-winning lately. Apart from the “Shadowhunters” guest spot, she was also featured in the “Dirty Dancing” one-off musical remake on ABC. The actress showed her singing chops. Before she became a big TV star, Hyland dabbled on stage as a singer. Watch her in perform in this video below.

Meanwhile, “Shadowhunters” has become a growing fan favorite on Freeform since its debut in 2016. The second season is expected to have 20 episodes and has been renewed for Season 3.
