Exciting things are about to happen on television following the announcement that “John Wick” is headed to the small screen. Lionsgate is in the middle of developing the series, which will be called “The Continental.” Will “John Wick” star Keanu Reeves be in the TV show?

“The Continental” will focus on the network of assassins that was revealed in “John Wick: Chapter 2.” Chad Stahelski, who worked on the two film installments, discussed the plans for the show, Collider reported.

“It’s very tied to the film [in that] it’s about the Continentals all over the world, how certain people come into that world, and what happens in relation to those people, which is cool,” he said. “I think the world is very vast, and everything I’ve heard from it is very positive,” he added.

The director also said Reeves is on board and will likely make an appearance or a cameo in the series.  Stahelski and Reeves are in the midst of doing a third “John Wick” movie, which will be like be a prequel. Stahelski hinted the movie will delve on the character’s origin as an assassin and how he developed such skills.

Stahelski and Reeves Reeves are also doing another TV show based on the Barry Eisler book “Rain,” IndieWire reported. “When we were developing ‘Rain,’ in between [Chapter 1 and Chapter 2], then all of a sudden everybody wanted us to do No. 2, and No. 2 did really well,” the director said. “So now, he kind of had to choose where to put his time, and he’s kind of vested into ‘John Wick’ — at least for the series and No. 3 of ‘John Wick.’ And if he chooses to afterwards, there’s always ‘Rain.’”

As of now, no writer has been named for the TV show and no network or streaming site has been attached so far. Casting has also not yet gotten underway.
