Makati City — May 23, 2017 — In line with its vision of ensuring better health among Filipino workers, Healthway Medical, the trusted and most preferred mall-based clinic in the country, urges companies to implement more programs and activities that promote health and wellness for their employees.
During the recent launch of this year’s Asia CEO Awards held at the Marriott Hotel Grand Ballroom in Pasay City, Carmie De Leon, VP of Sales and Marketing of Healthway Medical, underlined the importance of putting more value on employee’s health and wellness.
“Health and wellness programs are important in ensuring better productivity of a company’s workforce. A healthy workforce allows for a much livelier working environment and in the end, positively impacts its bottomline by improving productivity, reducing absenteeism, and reducing healthcare costs,” De Leon added.
According to World Health Organization (WHO), the workplace emerges as one of the best settings for promoting health and wellness. This environment directly influences the physical, mental, economic, and social well-being of workers.
Under the Labor Code of the Philippines, companies in the country are mandated to ensure the health and wellness of their employees through pre-employment exams and annual physical tests conducted by their respective Health Management Organization (HMO).
Healthway Medical, recognizes that there are companies that makes the workplace an arena for health and wellness campaigns, apart from giving basic health and safety programs.
“We know for a fact that these businesses are keen on ensuring a balance between the professional and physical well-being of their employees. In turn, it translates as a pre-requisite for the sustainable social and economic development of the nation,” De Leon further explained.
As one of the partners of this year’s Asia CEO Awards, the largest business awards event in the Philippines and Southeast Asia, Healthway seeks to recognize the efforts of companies that go beyond extending traditional wellness programs. This is through the sponsorship of the new category of the prestigious award for this year dubbed as “Wellness Company of the Year.”
“The continuous growth of the Philippine market across all industries will not be possible if not because of the employers and companies that take serious account of the wellness of their employees in a fun, unique, and dynamic way,” said De Leon. “With this award, we want to recognize a company with outstanding, creative, and effective wellness programs. It also aims to inspire other organizations to do the same.”
