The expected departure of Dr. Martin Stein (Victor Garber) has started following the events that went down on the fourth episode of “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow” season 3 titled “Phone Home.”

Noticing something a bit off with Stein, Jefferson Jackson/ Jax (Franz Drameh) and Mick/ Heat Wave (Dominic Purcell) confronted one half of Firestorm for the communicator he had built. It turns out that Stein just wanted to keep in touch with his daughter Lily Stein (Christina Brucato) who was giving birth.

The trio borrowed the Waverider and traveled to 2017 so that Stein would not miss the birth of his grandson. However, that sequence may have also sparked the expected departure of Garber – compounded by the fact that Jax sought help from Ray Palmer (Brandon Routh) to break up Firestorm.

Stein is expected to depart by the end of the third season of “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow.” With Jax seeking help, it looks like Firestorm will stay on though it may be a bit tricky.

If there is any guy who can help, it is Ray Palmer. Separating Jax and Stein is not expected to be easy, likely something that may put the lives of both at risk. Could Stein get killed in the process or will there be a search for a new partner to make Firestorm work?

The worst case scenario is that the cure may not work at all. Jax could get killed in battle or sacrifice himself at some point. In “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow,” time travel has made it easy to twist the existence of characters. Assuming that either Jax or Stein leaves or kicks the bucket, they can always be reincarnated at some point in the timeline. It has happened before.

Expect this part to be the big sidelight this third season of “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow.” It could all go down in the fifth episode titled “Return of the Mack” this coming Tuesday on The CW. Check out the trailer below.
