Will Kyrie Irving leave the Cleveland Cavaliers after the 2015-16 NBA season?

The Cleveland Cavaliers are in the middle of another storm, as they have been struggling over their past several games. Their current state led to speculations that their “Big Three” of LeBron James, Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love are making their final run together. In fact, Irving reportedly wants out of Cleveland.

According Stephen A. Smith of ESPN, Irving, who has spent his entire five-year NBA career with the Cavaliers, is not happy in Cleveland since last season.

“Dating back to last year, I’ve been told that Kyrie Irving ain’t too happy being in Cleveland,” Smith said on “First Take” via New York Post.

Smith did not mention specific reasons and admitted that he has not talked to Irving personally about his alleged desire to leave Cleveland. But based on what he has been hearing over the past several months, the ESPN insider is convinced that the All-Star point guard wants to move elsewhere.

“The situation is not ideal for him,” Smith added. “I don’t know the particulars, I haven’t spoken to him personally. It’s something that I’ve been hearing for months; that under ideal circumstances he would prefer to be someplace other than Cleveland.”

Irving is playing just in the first season of his five-year, $94.34 million contract with the Cavaliers, which means the Cavaliers still have control on his future.

The 23-year-old point guard is often criticized for his playmaking abilities. According to FanSided, the former Duke University standout previously clashed with James because the four-time Most Valuable Player wanted Irving to pass more. In their last five games, Irving dished out just 3.6 assists per game, which is below his season averages of 4.3 dimes.

Talking to ESPN Cleveland, Smith pointed out that Irving and James “love” one another but does not necessarily mean that they are planning to play together in the long run. The veteran analyst also revealed Irving’s representatives want to bring the former first-overall pick to a larger market.
