Cancelled: Hart of Dixie, The Mindy Project; Hulu Interested in Getting Mindy Kaling’s Show

After much speculations, it’s been confirmed that “Hart of Dixie” on The CW and “The Mindy Project” on FOX are getting the axe. These female-centered series were in their fourth and third seasons before the networks decided to cancel them.

The cancellation of “The Mindy Project” was announced last night. The show has been lagging in the ratings since its debut, but it has a cult following and Mindy Kaling, the show’s lead star and creator, has a stronghold among her fans. But there may be a chance for the series to continue in the streaming site Hulu, however.

Universal Television, the producer of “The Mindy Project” is reportedly in serious talks with Hulu for additional seasons, according to Entertainment Weekly.

Meanwhile, “Hart of Dixie” is officially not coming back for another season.

The Leila Gerstein series, which wrapped up in March, had been showing signs that it will be cancelled early on, with shortened episodes and a move in its schedules. Additionally, the show’s creator seemed to have signified on her social media account that the last three episodes of the show’s fourth season, which aired in March, are the final episodes.

The romantic comedy, which starred Rachel Bilson and Scott Porter, however, is one of the better performing series on Hulu, but it has not been getting enough viewers on the network.

In his Twitter and Instagram account, Porter immediately sent a message after learning of the cancellation, “That’s a wrap on Wilson & #3Amigos. Love these dudes. So proud. #TearsWereShed #HartOfDixie @WilsonBethel @1loveCress http://instagram.com/p/t1QIgaPqNg/.”

And the sun sets on #BlueBell. Thanks for an amazing 4 years. #HartOfDixie
