NBA: Draft lottery delayed, 2021 season may be pushed back to December

The NBA Board of Governors are having discussions on pushing back the start of the 2020-2021 season to December this year.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowksi reported the development, also mentioning a few vital points during the meeting.

The NBA already suspended the Draft Lottery and Combine which were scheduled for May, although the league held back on delaying the actual draft night scheduled for June 25th.

Pushing back the start of the next season to December would mean a chance for more fans to be able to watch live inside arenas.

Normally, the NBA season starts by October with preseason games.

The 2019-2020 season of the NBA is still on hold with about 70% of the elimination round games done.

With the coronavirus pandemic leading to a league suspension, many events like the Summer League, G-League, and free agency have been pushed back and the NBA will have to come up with the best solutions.
