Captain Marvel
star Brie Larson could be playing yet another iconic role. Reports have it that she’s being eyed to play Princess Peach in an upcoming Super Mario live-action movie.

Nintendo is reportedly planning to do a film to mark the 35th anniversary of the popular video game. The game company is working with Universal to develop the movie.

According to We Got This Covered, Larson is the leading choice to play the video game’s heroine. Reportedly, her role will be “substantially different” from the traditional depiction of the character, who has to be rescued in the video game.

Details are still scarce and the Super Mario film has barely any plot. We Got This Covered, however, is betting that the movie will not be tackling the video game’s story “as it is” and there should be an expected twist in the film.

At any rate, Larson is a longtime big fan of the Nintendo and is currently hooked on the newly-released game Animal Crossing: New Horizons on Switch.

“I’ve been playing the game I think since Monday by myself and I’ve had nobody to be able to talk to about it,” the actress said. “It’s been really sweet to have this special time with it to figure it out on my own.”

The actress told People that she played the original Animal Crossing on Nintendo’s GameCube as a kid with her sister.

“My mom set up a rule: whoever finished their homework got to play first. It was an amazing tool to get us to finish our homework,” the Oscar-winning Avenger said. I’m so excited to make new memories with my sister [Milaine Desaulniers] again. We’re adults now and yet we still just have such a deep love for this game and it’s been really fun to talk with her about it.”

Larson also said that she’s game to appear in an Animal Crossing film, should Nintendo plan to have one. However, she didn’t mention anything about the rumored Super Mario casting.
