Alab Pilipinas rallies back, beats Mono Vampire anew in 4th meeting

San Miguel Alab Pilipinas split its regular season series with Mono Vampire following a pulsating 100-92 overtime victory over the Thai club on Thursday in the continuing 2019-2020 ASEAN Basketball League season.

The Philippine side rallied back with a 30-15 4th quarter, before clicking in the overtime period to book the win as the two teams finished with 2 wins each against each other.

Jason Brickman was stellar against his former squad, exploding for 32 points on a highly-efficient 11/14 shooting. He shot perfect from 2-point range, and connected on 5 triples.

The point guard also grabbed 8 rebounds and dished out 8 assists. He was backstopped by Nick King, who boiunced back and scored 26 points. Big man Sam Deguara notched a double-double of 18 markers and 16 boards.

Alab also overcame Mike Singletary’s 25 points, Preston Knowles’ 24 points, and Tyler Lamb’s 20 points. The 3, however, combined to shoot just 27/64 from the floor.

Down by 12, 77-65 with over 5 minutes left in the payoff period, Brickman and King combined for 17 of the next 19 Alab points, with a triple from Brickman pushing Alab ahead, 84-79.

However, the resilient Thai crew forced overtime with 3s from Knowles and Singletary under the final minute, tying the game at 85 heading into the extension.

But Alab was able to carry momentum for the next 5 minutes, with the primary tandem again inflicting damage.

Brickman made a lay-up, before King converted 2 charities. Later, Brickman hit the dagger triple, making it 97-88 with over a minute left.

Coach Jimmy Alapag’s troops improved to 7-4 with the win, while Mono dropped to 9-4.
