Meralco Bolts big man Raymond Almazan is ready to make a difference for his squad when they take on Barangay Ginebra San Miguel in the 2019 PBA Governors’ Cup finals starting in January 2020.

It is the 3rd time Meralco and Ginebra are battling each other for the Governors’ Cup championship in the last 4 seasons.

Ginebra beat Meralco twice in the past, but Almazan’s addition could be of vital help for them especially after seasons of relying on the aging Reynel Hugnatan, Bryan Faundo, and Ranidel de Ocampo in their frontcourt.

The 6-foot-7 frontliner said his presence will be a factor in the finals, especially when Meralco goes up against Ginebra’s towering frontcourt which includes Greg Slaughter and Japeth Aguilar.

“Sa dalawang finals nila wala silang big man eh, so nandito na ako ngayon medyo mapapadali na trabaho sa amin,” said Almazan per the PBA website.

“Alam naman natin yung Meralco naghahanap ng big man matagal na eh. Sa presence ko siguro makakatulong ako this coming finals naminm Gusto ko yun kasi mga big man talaga. Masasabi mong matchup yung finals.”

Having been in the finals and having won a championship as well, Almazan is glad to be back around and is hopeful to contribute to the Bolts’ quest for a maiden franchise title.

“Sobrang tagal ko na hindi nag finals. 2016 pa. Very excited ako, ready talaga kami. Going to the finals talaga, ang sarap ng pakiramram,” he said.
